IPO

Amended S-1: About $17B Quarter, $567M Operating Loss

Anthropic's amended S-1, filed Nov. 2, adds audited Q3 results. Revenue was roughly $17B, up about 1,127% year over year, with $33.24B over nine months. Operating expenses jumped to $17.5B from $10.6B, flipping a $974M Q2 operating profit into a $567M operating loss.

Net loss was about $23.3B, mostly a non-cash charge from convertible notes. Compute and infrastructure commitments total about $895.4B, with $70B due within 12 months and about $214B carrying termination or contingent terms. Liquidity stood at $147B on Sept. 30.

Security

Cowork Gets EDR Monitoring in Beta

Anthropic added a beta integration that lets companies run endpoint detection and response sensors inside Claude Cowork's local VM. Security teams can see shell commands and code Cowork runs there. Approved vendors include CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Palo Alto Networks and Tanium.

It covers Team and Enterprise on macOS and Windows, needs Claude Desktop 4.4212.0 or later, and does not cover Cowork sessions hosted on Anthropic's servers. The sensor can see prompts and files in the VM, and that data goes to the EDR vendor, not Anthropic.

Policy

New Usage Policy Takes Effect Nov. 12

Per TechFlow, citing Anthropic's site, the updated policy covers Claude, Claude Code, the API and integrated services. It bans using model outputs to train other models, including scraping and distillation, plus malware and fraud.

High-risk uses such as finance, healthcare, legal and recruitment need review by qualified people and disclosure of AI involvement. Consumer chatbots and agents must say they are AI. This is a secondary report, so check the policy text.

Claude Code

Claude Code 2.1.316 to 2.1.318 Roll Out

Releasebot shows 2.1.314 to 2.1.318 first seen Nov. 3-4. Highlights: permissions.blockWritesOutsideWorkingDirectories, pooled group budgets, onFailure: "block" for Agent SDK hook callbacks, and a cost report at GET /v1/organizations/analytics/cost.

2.1.318 adds loginExpiresAt to claude auth status and warns 10 days before a claude.ai sign-in expires. Background subagents now move long shell commands to the background after 3 minutes.

Deprecation

Fast Mode for Opus 4.8 Is on the Way Out

Per the 2.1.316 notes, fast mode for Opus 4.8 was deprecated on Oct. 30 and will be removed Nov. 30, 2026. The suggested move is to Opus 5.5.

If your scripts or settings pin Opus 4.8 fast mode, you have about three weeks to switch.

Rumor

“Claude Mythos 5.5” Spotted on Anthropic's Site

The string “Claude Mythos 5.5” reportedly appeared in a hidden page header and logo alt text on the Mythos page. A screenshot circulated on X on Nov. 1. There is no date, pricing or benchmark, and Anthropic has not commented.

Mythos is limited to vetted partners. Public Fable 5 launched June 9. Treat this as a hint until Anthropic says something.

🧠 Analysis
Take

Growth Is Not the Problem. The Bill Is.

Revenue grew about 11x and Anthropic still posted an operating loss. Compute and infrastructure costs ran near 58% of revenue, and $5B of Q3 compute came from pricier short-term contracts.

The IPO question is simple: can revenue outrun roughly $895B in commitments? Watch the next filing for termination terms on that $214B contingent slice.
